Getting Started

Sign up for Arbtr and get started with your first team.

Sign Up Options

Arbtr supports multiple authentication methods. Choose the one that works best for your team:

Email + Password

Classic email/password authentication. You'll receive a confirmation email to verify your address.

GitHub OAuth

Sign in with your GitHub account. This also makes it easier to connect your repositories later for Git sync.

Google OAuth

Sign in with your Google account. Great for teams already using Google Workspace.

After You Sign Up

Once you've created your account, you have two options:

Create a New Team

Start fresh with your own team. You'll be the owner with full control over settings, members, and integrations.

  1. Click "Create Team" on the welcome screen
  2. Enter your team name (this becomes your URL slug)
  3. You're ready to create decisions!

Join an Existing Team

If someone has invited you to their team, you'll see the invitation after signing up.

  1. Check your email for the invitation link
  2. Click "Accept Invitation"
  3. You'll be added to the team with the assigned role

Team Invitations

Team owners and admins can invite new members via email:

  1. Go to Team Settings → Members
  2. Click Invite Member
  3. Enter their email address and select a role
  4. They'll receive an email with a link to join
i
Invitations expire after 7 days. If someone misses their invite, you can resend it from the Members page.

Team Roles

Owner

Full access to everything. Can delete the team, manage billing, transfer ownership, and configure all settings.

Admin

Can manage members, moderate content, and configure most settings. Cannot delete the team or transfer ownership.

Member

Can participate in decisions: create decisions, add arguments, vote, and comment. Cannot manage other members.

tip
Roles determine default permissions, but admins can customize individual member permissions. See the Permissions documentation for details.

Multiple Teams

You can belong to multiple teams with one account. This is useful for consultants, contractors, or people who work across organizations.

Switch between teams using the team selector in the top navigation. Each team has its own decisions, settings, and member list.
